Hey Everyone,
I’ve been eating like a crazed monkey lately. I should really go to the gym and make the cross trainer my new boyfriend but I was swept away and taken to Misty’s Diner for some good ole Americano dining. Misty’s Diner is a popular hot spot for locals looking for a Diner better than Soda Rock on Chapel street which I am not a fan of. Especially the dead looking and gray elvis that sits near your food booths. But anyway, the decor was nice. I have this sneaking suspicion that all diners have to look somewhat dusty. I reckon you should prove me wrong.
We decided to share since we’ve been scoffing way too much and he had a sore throat and ordered an onion ring tower for starters, Misty’s Special for our main along with a side of skinny fries since McDonalds is the king of Fries in my opinion and I think that all fries should act the same, and of course most unexpectedly – pumpkin pie.
The onion ring tower was pretty good. It’s been a while since I’ve had onion rings. They probably take me back to the old days when we had onion rings at Burger King but these take onion rings to the next level. They are deluxe. Crispy, fresh and oniony, I can’t complain. The measly leaves for decor at the bottom are a bit pathetic though. Look, it ain’t going to be any healthier, because it’s not.
Misty’s American Style Original Burgers – American Cheese, Sauteed Onions, lettuce, tomato, bacon, American pickles, eggs. You know everything basically. Slap it all together. I found it better than Huxtaburger. It’s softer, although the meat is more like a ramli patty you find at your local grocery store. It’s good and soft but I think it lacks a bit of oomph. The sauce makes up for most of it. Fries were a little too salty. I found myself wiping off the salt, but hey, they’re fries. They’re not supposed to be really put under a microscope.
I’ve probably been craving pumpkin pie now for a decade. My school used to stock up on them during Thanksgiving and I had a wonderful time eating all of them. Good ole days. If you haven’t noticed, Melbourne doesn’t have many pumpkin pies. It’s really a shame because this is the best pie you’ll eve eat, especially on a cold night. This one was pretty good although the cinnamon was a bit overwhelming. It was a good pumpkin consistency and was just the right kind of warm to send you straight to pumpkin heaven. Would like more of a pumpkin taste but seeing this is probably the closest I’ll get to American pumpkin pie, I’ll take it.
This was pretty cool.
Overall, I would rate Misty’s Diner a 7/10. I would go back for a little taste of America.
